Mrs. Rubie Pickett-Williams December 08, 1936 - June 08, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) PICKETT-WILLIAMS, Rubie - 68, died on June 8, 2005, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Rubie was a daughter of the late Irving and Emilyn Pickett of Golden Spring, St. Andrew, Jamaica, WI and was predeceased by her husband, Bariff. She was born on December 8, 1936, and was survived by her children, Herold Prehay, Ucella Parks, Rose Parks, and Delroy Parks; stepchildren, Jennifer and Debbie Williams; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also left behind are her sisters, Vera Brown and Mavis Pickett, and her brothers, Albert, Henry and Luchos Pickett. Before immigrating to Canada, Rubie was a businesswoman, operating Rubie's Pub on Wild Street, Franklyn Town, Kingston, Jamaica. Rubie immigrated to Canada on December 12, 1978, and was initially a part of Canada's immigrant work strategy and over the period of a few years she acquired the qualification and worked as a nursing assistant in many institutions in Halifax and Dartmouth. During her work, she made a difference in the lives of many Haligonians through counselling and caring for their dying loved ones. Rubie Pickett-Williams will be dearly missed by her family. She will also be missed by her friends, Barbara, Allen, Linda, Beverly, Lester, her bowling team and all her friends at the Army and Navy Club on Main Street in Dartmouth. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. June 22 and 23 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Cremation to follow. Rev. Trevor Phillips will officiate at the memorial service 1:30 p.m. June 25 in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel at 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow.
