LAWRENCE SHARP Lawrence Sharp passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2005 at his home in Hamilton, Ont. at the age of 85. Lawrence started his cooking career at the age of 17 when his cousin, Frank Oster, “who was a fabulous cook,” took him to help in the bush camps. At the age of 20, he joined the Canadian Navy as a cook and remained there for 35 years. Lawrence made his home in Halifax, N.S. with his wife, Ann, and raised his family there. They then moved to Hamilton, where he cooked at the Hamilton General Hospital for 10 years before retiring. Lawrence was predeceased by his son, Gary in 2001; and his wife, Ann, in 2003. He is survived by his son, John and wife, Pat, and their three daughters; his daughter, Jo-Anne and husband, Eric; and Gary’s two children. He also is survived by his two sisters, Mary Maklin of Winnipeg, Man. and Helen Steele of Atikokan, Ont.; and one brother, Conrad Sharp of Stratton, Ont. Funeral services were held in Hamilton on Friday, Jan. 28, 2005.
