MARIE ‘OLGA’ KOSONIC Marie “Olga” Kosonic, 83, of Warroad, Mn., passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2005 at her home. Olga was born Dec. 18, 1921 to Michael and Marie Ksionzek in Sioux Lookout, Ont. She was united in marriage to Mike Kosonic on June 8, 1940 at La Vallee, Ont. Olga, Mike, and family moved to Warroad in October, 1956 when Mike’s employer, the Canadian National Railway, transferred him. Upon arriving there, Olga was employed at the Warroad hospital for one year, then spent 14 years working for various doctors at the Warroad clinic. In 1972, Olga accepted a position working in the library with the Warroad School District. Here she would happily spend the next 29 years of her life working with the wonderful staff and students. Health issues finally forced her to retire in August, 2001 at 79 years of age. She spent the remainder of her life happily surrounded by family and friends, engaging in all the activities she enjoyed. Olga is survived by her daughters, Eleanor Swanson of Kelliher and Marie “Elaine” Bonnell of Warroad; grandchildren, Sandy Swanson of Chicago, Ill., Chris (Joni) Bonnell of Buffalo, Mn., Sharon Swanson of Bemidji, Mn., and Julie Bonnell (fiancé Don Ward) of Loveland, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Adara, Kory, and Michael Bonnell of Buffalo, Mn.; and best friend, Marge Keeney. Also surviving are her brother, Rick (Linda) Ksionzek; step-sisters, Jean MacPherson and Ann (Jack) Anderson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joan Hall, Duni Kosonic, Edward (Win) Kosonic, John (Molly) Kosonic, Ernie (Theresa) Kosonic, and Helen (Paul) Patchin; many loving nieces and nephews; and her wealth of friends in Warroad and the surrounding area. Olga was predeceased by her husband, Mike, on May 21, 1976; her parents; sisters, Rose (Frank) Dodds and Helen Young; sisters-in-law, Mary (William) Tremblay, Clifford Schutte, Stella (Bud) Carnahan, and Edna Kosonic; and brothers-in-law, Willard Kosonic and Charles Hall. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at 3 p.m. at the Warroad Baptist Church in Warroad. Internment in Riverside Cemetery in Warroad.
