MURTIS C. MARSH Murtis C. Marsh, 84, of Eveleth, Mn. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Mn. Murtis was born Sept. 13, 1920 to Ralph and Mabel (Pratt) Marsh in Yellowstone Township, N.D. He was raised in Webster, Wis., graduating from high school in 1939. Following graduation, he moved to Clearwater Lake, Canada and worked at the resort owned by his parents, where he did guide service. From 1943-46, he served with the Canadian Army (Sherbrooke Fusiliers) and was a PoW. Murtis was united in marriage to Mary Korman on May 5, 1948 in Fort Frances, Ont. They made their home in Clearwater Lake until moving to International Falls, Mn. in 1950. He then was employed with MANDO for 34 years, retiring in 1982. Murtis was member of the Promise Keepers, Assembly of God in International Falls and the Hibbing and Mando Rifle Club. He also was a former member of the Canadian Legion in Fort Frances. Murtis had many hobbies, including guiding, rifle shooting, decorating Ukrainian Easter eggs, exercising, hunting. and fishing, along with baking rosettes, cinnamon rolls, and making sauerkraut. He loved serving the Lord in his local church and enjoyed Gospel music. Murtis was predeceased by his parents, Ralph Marsh and Mabel Glueheisen, who died at 102 years of age, and his step-father, Bill Glueheisen. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Eveleth, Mn.; son, Dr. Gary Marsh of The Pas, Man.; brother, Milton (Betty) Glueheisen of Fort Frances, Ont.; four nephews, LeRoy, Larry, Leonard, and Lance Glueheisen; brother-in-law, Peter (Stella) Korman and nephew, Jerry, formerly of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous cousins from both sides. A gathering of family and friends to remember his life will be held Friday, April 8, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. at the First Assembly of God in International Falls, Mn., and will continue Saturday, April 9, 2005 from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service at the church. Pastor Steve Kruse and Pastor Arlon (Archie) Lee will co-officiate. Arrangements are with the Range Funeral Home in Virginia, Mn.
