DASHNAY, Joseph William - Passed away at Leisureworld Caregiving Centre, Monday, January 31, 2005, at the age of 85 years. Joseph Dashnay was the beloved husband of Greta (née Dale) and loved father of Joey (Dianne), Karen Desjardins (Eugene), Marlene Treganza (Bill) and Mark. He will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren; Christopher, Tammy, Trevor, Lorri, Sean, Steven, Kenneth, Mathieu, Jason, Cole and Chad, great-grandchildren; Joshua, Sabrina, Jessica, Stephanie, Scott, Cassidy, Brooke, Zachary, Timothy and Crystal and great-great-grandchild, Anden. Dear brother of Irene, Genevieve, Rita and Theresa. Predeceased by his parents, Mary (née Garant) and Duncan Dashnay and four brothers; Edwin, Vincent, Philip and Anthony. Mr. Dashnay was proprietor/owner of Norwood Pharmacy and Dashnay's Motel on the North Highway. He played hockey for Scollard Hall, North Bay Trappers, McDonald's and in Powassan. Joe loved sports, politics and really enjoyed being a member of Pinewood Golf Club. He was elected councilman of Widdifield Township and was reeve for a term. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23, Knight of Columbus 4th Degree member and former WWII veteran of the army. Family and friends may pay their respects at McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME, today, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption, Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
