SHORTREED, Carol Mary (Dec. 28, 1950 - June 15, 2005) - At the Palliative Care Unit, Peterborough Regional Health Centre, after a prolonged and courageous struggle with cancer. Beloved wife and best friend of David Lienert, and mother extraordinaire of Ian. Dear sister of Anne McKarney (Colin, deceased) of Bendigo, Australia, and of Jean Goodman (Gary) of Zurich, Ontario. Proud aunt of Andrew Goodman (Carolyn Bassett) of Toronto; Erin Goodman of Vancouver; Lesley McKarney of Toronto; and Colleen McKarney, currently in Sheffield, England. Also stepmother to Stephanie Lake (David) of Guelph, and stepgrandma to Aaron and Shane. Carol never lost her sense of humour or her interest in life and friends to the very end. She will be greatly missed by the Peterborough community. She was a native of Huron County, a graduate of U.W.O, and before moving to Peterborough was employed by Bell Canada and the I.A.P.A. Cremation private. A gathering of family and friends will be announced. Flowers gratefully declined.
