Maud HYDE

ABOLIT, Maud (Cissie) (nee Hyde) 1898-2005 In her 107th year On Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the Glebe Centre. Beloved wife of Gus Abolit who went on ahead to be with the Lord in 1972. Sister of the late Hyman Hyde (Virginia Bateman) and Hilda Hyde. Cissie is survived by her two nieces and their families; Marjorie (Hyde) Carver of Ottawa and Nancy McLelland (Hyde) (Duncan) of Barrie, Ontario; her great-nephews Bob Carver (Wendy) and Douglas Hyde (Jr.) (Linda), her great-nieces Debbie Hyde and Linda (Hyde) Robillard (Al), she will also be greatly missed by her great-great-nephew Gregory Carver and great-great-niece Cynthia Carver. She is predeceased by her nephew Douglas Hyde (Sr.) and his wife Lillian (Lamb). Cissie was a life member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ottawa East when she and her family arrived from England in 1910 it was known as the Ottawa East Baptist Mission. She was always very active in her church as was her husband Gus. For many years she actively recruited for the churches "Day School Gospel League" (DSGL) and the "Cradle Roll". Only once, did she have a door slammed in her face while going door to door in Old Ottawa East. She also taught Sunday School for many years. For 40 years she arranged the altar flowers for the Sunday Church Services at Calvary Baptist Church. Many thanks to her dear and close friends, Mr. & Mrs. Robert (Ella) Swinimer and the late Dorothea Gage who remained true and faithful friends over so many years. Also many thanks to her doctor, Dr. N. B. Matuk who looked after Cissie with such care over many years. Special thanks to the attendants from G.E.M., The VON and especially the tremendous staff members at the Glebe Centre. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Friday, June 3, 2005 from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. followed by interment at Beechwood Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Gus and her sister Hilda.
