SHARPE, George William WW II - RCAF - 428 Squadron Peacefully on Friday, June 10th, 2005 in his 84th year, George William Sharpe (GW) (Sir George). Beloved husband of Mary (nee Kangethe). Loved and respected father of Linda (Peter Maitland), Valerie, Richard and stepdaughter Grace. Survived by his only sister May (O'Meara). Grandfather of Phillipa, Andrea, James, Alexis, Julie May and great-grandfather to Aiden, Isabelle and Tristan. Predeceased by wife Ethel Demares (Wright) May 1974, only brother Richard and parents George and Oneita (Short). Federal Government 1946 - 1995 (Health & Welfare, Trade & Commerce, Department of National Defence, Canadian Commercial Corporation, Defence Production, Northern Affairs, Canadian International Development Agency). Member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 33, Honourary Life Member Ottawa Valley Cricket Council. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. A reception will be held at the Ottawa Naval Association, Victoria Island following the service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
