HANLON, Mona Ban 1930 - 2005 After a battle with cancer, Ban passed away quietly at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Desmond and her children Roisin (Jim Cobban), Julian (Claire Lauzon), Carl (Mary), Margaret (Blake Bell), Claire (Jozef Budziak) and Alice (David Aiken) and her grandchildren Amanda, Lauren, Patrick, Bliss, Brendon, Taylor, Kristen, Jakub, Lukas and Liam. Ban was passionate about learning, and as a teacher for many years had the opportunity to affect the lives of many people. Her interests included the writing of the family history, reading voraciously, and studying religion. The world is surely a better place for having had her in it, she will be missed. The family wishes to thank the staff of the cancer centre at the Ottawa General Hospital and the palliative home care team. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 585 Somerset Street (centretown) Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass in Memory of Ban will be held Monday in St. Joseph's Church, 151 Laurier Street East, at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Ban requested that donations be made to the Woman's Centre and the Supper Table at St. Joseph's Church, Ottawa. www.kellyfh.ca Published in the Ottawa Citizen from 6/17/2005 - 6/18/2005
