Mary Elizabeth MCKILLICAN

McKILLICAN, Dr. Mary Elizabeth Peacefully in her sleep at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Sunday, June 19th, 2005 at age 92 years. Daughter of the late William Christie McKillican and Anna Mary Stewart. Will be sadly missed by her first cousins David B. Stewart (Ruth) of Killarney, Man., Janet E. Eldridge (Owen) of Toronto, Robert E. McKillican (Audrey) of Regina, Sask., Donald R. McKillican (Cairine) of Kelowna, B.C. and his children, Edi Murray (Dave), Anne Pomerleau (Mike), Brian McKillican and Lee Garstang (John) and many other Stewart and McKillican cousins. Mary became a Research Scientist for the Department of Agriculture at Ottawa in 1937 and obtained a Doctorate Degree from McGill University in 1952. Her main field of research had been on lipids of plants and particularly of wheat. Mary was an avid gardener, photographer and traveller. She had a wonderful, full life with many close friends and relatives. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road, Ottawa on Wednesday, June 22nd from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Carleton Memorial United Church, 740 Melfa Cres. (at Prince of Wales), Ottawa on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. Interment Pinecrest Cemetery.
