Owen W.P. McCarron March 25, 1929 - June 27, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) McCARRON, Owen W.P. - 76, Halifax, passed away June 27, 2005, at home. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Gregory and Julia McCarron. He was a freelance commercial artist, enjoyed a 32 year career with The Chronicle Herald. One of the highlights of his career was freelancing for Marvel Comics through his own companies, McCarron Advertising and Comic Book World. In more recent years, Owen wrote and designed several historical docu-comics depicting various aspects of the Halifax Explosion, as well as the former Halifax Chebucto Airport. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Dorothy Armstrong; sons, Stephen, Glenn, Donald, Adam; stepdaughter, Linda; sisters, Katie Forbes and June MacLeod; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. At Owen's request, there will be no visitation or service.
