Mrs. Marjorie Jean Cox (née Kidney) February 27, 1926 - June 28, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) COX, Marjorie Jean - 79, Dartmouth, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, in Oakwood Terrace, where she had been a resident of C-Unit for the last three years. Born in Halifax, she was the younger daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Verge) Kidney, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her role as wife and mother, Marjorie devoted her life to building and maintaining a nurturing home, practicing her belief that the two greatest gifts parents could give to their children were roots and wings. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Maynard; sons, Barry (Theresa), Vernon, B.C.; Shawn (Jamie), Halifax; daughter, Debby MacKay, Dartmouth; grandsons, Colin and Ryan Cox, British Columbia; granddaughter, Elizabeth MacKay, Dartmouth; sisters-in-law, Vivian Goulden, Evelyn Cox, Mary Fairchild, Evelyn M. Cox; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Murphy; nephew, Jim F. Murphy; son-in-law, Bill MacKay. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where a memorial gathering will be held 1-2:15 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the Family Reception Room, concluding with interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens at 2:30 p.m. No flowers by request. Gifts of remembrance may be made in Marjorie's memory to Oakwood Terrace Foundation, noted "C-Unit Account", 10 Mount Hope Ave., Dartmouth, NS B2Y 4K1. Many heartfelt thanks to the staff of Oakwood Terrace, especially the team on C-Unit, for their compassionate care through the end of Marjorie's journey with Alzheimer's disease.
