BOOMER, DOROTHY EDNA - 76, Saint John, N.B. and formerly of Truro, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2005 in Saint John General Hospital, Saint John, N.B. Born in Borden, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Edson and Elizabeth (Bessie) Kennedy Baird. After retiring as house mother at the Nova Scotia Home For Girls in Truro, she lived in Saint John, N.B. for 26 years. An avid horse racing enthusiast, she was part owner of Courtenay Bay, a well known race horse at the Truro Raceway. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by daughter, Shannon Boomer, Saint John, N.B.; grandson, Bradley (Nancy), Moncton, N.B.; great-grandson, Brandon (Willie), Moncton, N.B.; son-in-law, Hubert Pickard, Fredericton, N.B.; sister-in-law, Bertha Bonnyman, Salmon River; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Boomer; daughter, Cindy Lee Pickard; sister, Margaret Cullen; brothers, Arnold, David, Gordon, Walter. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.; funeral service on Monday at 2:00 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Gordon MacLean officiating. Reception to follow the service. Interment in Crossroad's Cemetery, Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
