Mr. Morley James Jahrig March 15, 1920 - July 08, 2005 Funeral arrangements by South Side Memorial Chapel On Friday July 8, 2005, Morley James Jahrig passed away at the age of 85 years in Richmond, B.C. He was predeceased by his wife Olga in 1996, and he is survived by two daughters; Geri of Brentwood Bay, B.C. and Lynda (Ron) of Richmond, B.C., two brothers John (Midge) of Edmonton, and Cecil (Sheila) of Calgary. Morley is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also predeceased by sisters Helen and Bernice and brother Gordon. Morley was born and raised at Rapid City, Manitoba. He joined the Army in 1940 and served in Canada, England, the Mediterranean sector and northwest Europe before returning home in 1945. His family had moved to Lethbridge during the war. He worked in the construction industry for 6 years and then for the Alberta Government for 29 years. He retired in 1982 to devote all of his time to his wife while she was suffering from Alzheimer Disease. He was a member of the IOOF lodge in Lethbridge and the Calgary Army, Navy & Air Force and the Royal Canadian Legion of Nanaimo. Morley volunteered his time to the United Way for several years. He also devoted his heart, time and services to the Edmonton General Hospital where his wife was a patient for many years. As the president of the Edmonton Alzheimer Society, he educated and proudly shared his personal experience with others until he retired in 1997. In 1997, Morley moved to Nanaimo to be near his daughters and his grandchildren. In 2002 he moved to Richmond B.C. Morley James Jahrig will be deeply missed by his loving family and by all those that knew him. His kind heart and unconditional love is like that of no other and this is why he is so special. WE LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU VERY MUCH! Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at South Side Memorial Chapel (8310 – 104 Street) with interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
