Elizabeth Savoie LEOMINSTER, MA, USA - Elizabeth (Porelle) Savoie, 89, of Leominster, MA, died Tuesday evening July 12, 2005 in the Lifecare Center of Leominster, Leominster, MA., after an illness. Elizabeth (Porelle-Niles) Savoie was born July 29, 1915 in Cap Pele, New Brunswick, Canada. She was the daughter of George Porelle and Angelique Fagan-Porelle. Mrs. Savoie moved to the United States in 1948 and lived in Fitchburg most of her life before moving to Leominster to Manor on the Hill. She worked as a housekeeper and cook at St Francis Rectory in Fitchburg and then later worked at Barlyn Stitching and Asher Pants before her retirement. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed knitting and cooking her favorite French Canadian specialty dishes. Her poutine rappees were sold at some of the local markets. She also enjoyed spending time with her family here and in Canada. In her later years she became an avid Red Sox Fan and was thrilled to see them finally win the World Series. Mrs. Savoie is survived by her daughter, Charleen and her husband John Raymond, with whom she had recently lived. She also leaves three grandsons, Todd Raymond and his wife Gloria and their daughter Jessenia, Mark Raymond, all of Lancaster and Matthew Raymond of Leominster; two sisters, Evelyn Babineau and Angela Cormier of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. She also leaves many nieces and nephews of whom she was very fond. She was predeceased by her former husbands, William E. Niles and Vital (Vic) Savoie as well as three brothers, Alphee, Aurelle, Donat and two sisters, Ida and Josephine. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2005 in St Cecilias Church, 180 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA., at 9am. All are invited to go directly to the church in the morning. Burial will be private. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday evening, July 17, 2005 from 6pm to 8pm. Donations may be made to the St Cecilias Church Restoration Fund. [Times & Transcript]
