John Charles LeBlanc August 21, 1948 - July 13, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home * LeBLANC……John Charles, age 56, of Halifax/Windsor, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at the Q.E. II, New Halifax Infirmary. Born on August 21, 1948, in Pictou, Nova Scotia, and known as Charlie, he was the eldest son of the late Alfred and Jessie (MacIsaac) LeBlanc. John as he was known in Windsor, worked at the Fort Edward Mall, in maintenance and security until retiring. He was a former member of REACT and the Windsor Citizens Patrol. He was a 7th, Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate, which he also taught. He was a Canadian Vietnam Vet. (1963-70); a Green Beret (1964), he received the Congressional Medal of Honor, 2 Purple Hearts, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Vietnam Medal & Conduct Medal. He was a military courier to the White House and worked security at the White House, when the American Government had a Base in Newfoundland. He had also fought at Hamburger Hill. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his companion of 10 years, Mary Coll; daughters, Karen (Mark) Philips, Halifax; Lisa (Mike) Tattrie, Falmouth and their mother, Doreen (Madden) LeBlanc; grandson, Nicholas Tattrie; step-daughter, Amanda (Chris) Barkhouse, Truro; step-son, David (Quiss) Coll, Moncton, NB; step-grandson, Alexander Coll; sister, Mary LeBlanc (Ernie Oliver) and her son, J.J. Hall (Amy Bishop), all of Pictou; brother, Joe LeBlanc (Shannon Morrison), Pictou. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 15th, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor, where funeral service will be held in the Chapel, at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 16th, 2005, with Rev. J. J. MacDonald officiating. Interment in St. John’s R. C. Cemetery, Windsor. A memorial service will also be held, 10 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2005, in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Rev. Fr. Peter MacDonald officiating. Donations may be made to the Dialysis Unit, Q.E. II (Dickson Building); the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of one’s choice.
