Irene Cowan FREDERICTON, NB - Irene Cowan, 92, wife of the late Gerald Cowan, of Fredericton, formerly of Moncton, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2005 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton following a brief illness. Born September 15, 1912 in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Evangeline (Richard) LeBlanc. She is survived by one son, Henry (Joan) of Fredericton; her grandchildren, Matthew (Meredith) Cowan of Moncton, Sarah Cowan of Halifax; and a great-grandson, Jack. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her husband, Gerald (Gerry) Cowan (1990); she was predeceased by her sisters, Florine LeBlanc, Alvina Kirkey; brothers, Valmore, Alfred (Babe) and Arthur LeBlanc. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., from Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900), Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of departure (9:50). The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Moncton, Father Michael Toner, c.s.c., officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. There will also be parish prayers Tuesday evening at 8:30.
