Mrs. Mary Julie Yatkowski (Sitarik) (née Hainrich) October 14, 1947 - July 25, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Mrs. Mary Julie Yatkowski (Sitarik) (nee: Hainrich), age 57 years, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 25, 2005 at TBRHSC after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Port Arthur on October 14, 1947, Mary was educated locally and attended business college. In 1977 she married the love of her life and best friend Ed. Over the years she worked for various law firms and more recently at McKitrick’s. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kakabeka Falls as well as a volunteer for many organizations and secretary for the LWML. Mary enjoyed life to the fullest, giving herself freely to friends and family. Her favourite pastimes included golfing, curling, camping, and playing cards, especially with her Monday night card group. She was also a member of a location chapter of the Red Hat Society and took Ukrainian dancing, an activity she enjoyed in her childhood. Extremely outgoing and friendly, wherever Mary went she met someone she knew. Mary is survived by her loving husband Ed, sister Dorise Aubert (Gus), stepchildren Roxanne Smith (Mike); Daryl (Domenique), Natalie (Eugene); Cynthia Conway (Ted); Gregory (Becky); step grandchildren Joel, Vanessa, Ashley, Whitney, Justin and Joseph, Brooke and Jade, Anthony and David; along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Dora and Joseph Hainrich, first husband Andy, brothers Walter (Mae); John (Sharon); mother – inlaw Joanne Yatkowski and father – inlaw Joseph Yatkowski who died on Tuesday July 26, 2005. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday July 29, 2005 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Kakabeka Falls at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Gary Heintz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at 10:00 a.m. for friends and relatives to gather with the family. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the bitter end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So he put His arms around you And whispered “Come with me.” So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again.
