KYLLIKKI (KAY) KORPI Kay’s Lord and Saviour came for her on Sunday, July 3, 2005 and took her home for eternity. She passed away at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. at the age of 83. Kay was born Jan. 27, 1922 in Finland, Ont. to the late Wilhelm and Rosa Lampi. She had lived all her life in the district. In her early years, she was a leader of the 4-H Club and also was a member of the Finland Ladies Club, the Women’s Institute, and an active member of Off Lake Covenant Church. She was involved in many functions, including exhibiting her rugs, knitting, and vegetables at the Emo Fall Fair and cooking at Sunny Cove Camp. She also enjoyed rug weaving and knitting, and was known for her huge garden. Kay is survived by her three children, Ron (Dolores) of Fort Frances, Ont., Roy (Debbie) of Dryden, Ont., and Judy (George) Haney of Edmonton, Alta. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Rhondele Angus of Fort Frances, Ont., Dawn (Ron) Westover of Burriss, Ont., Michelle (Adam) Korpi of Fort Frances, Ont., Pamela (Darrel) Dalkeith of Edmonton, Alta., Ross (Dorothy) Korpi of Edmonton, Alta., Shelley (Jordan) Carrier of Winnipeg, Man., Jeffrey (Tammy) Haney of Redwater, Alta., and Nancy Haney (Ryan Berg) of Edmonton, Alta.; great-grandchildren, Maddisyn, Myla, Jyllian, Raice, Kaylee, and Rylan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Korpi in 1952; parents, Wilhelm and Rosa Lampi; twin sister, Gertrude West; and her two brothers, Willow (Bill) Lampi and Henry Lampi. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Off Lake Covenant Church in Chapple Township, Ont. Pastor Ken Johnson officiated, with interment in the Finland Cemetery. The pallbearers were Alex Wilson, Joe Georgeson, Sonny Ferris, Greg Ferris, Dave Bragg, and Ken Anderson. In memoriam donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, 920 Frenette Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3N4.
