ARDELL BRIGHAM It is with great sadness that the family of Ardell Brigham announces her passing on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. at the age of 87. She was born March 30, 1918 in Rainy River, Ont. to the late Jack and Gladys Gillies. As a child, she lived and attended school in Fort Frances until the age of 15, when the family moved to the country, where she met her future husband. On April 5, 1938, Ardell was united in marriage to Marvin Brigham. Following their marriage, they built their home on the Brigham family farm north of Emo, Ont., where they lived and raised their family. Ardell was in her glory being out where the sun was shining, whether it be picking berries, in the garden, or just out for a walk. She was an avid reader and could not be surpassed in her “crossword puzzle” mastery. Letter-writing kept her in contact with many of her friends and family. Being on her mailing list was considered even better than on her Christmas list. Her greatest joy was having her family and friends come to visit and share their lives with her. Ardell was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Brigham, on Feb. 28, 1991. In 1993, Ardell moved to the Golden Age Manor in Emo, where she resided until moving to Fort Frances in 2005. She also was predeceased by three grandsons, Brian Myberg, Brian Murray, and George Barrett; and one granddaughter, Wanda Westover. Ardell is survived by four daughters, Marvell and husband, Ken Cone, of Mine Centre, Ont.; Donna and husband, Darren Toews, of Barwick, Ont.; Teddy Ann of Atikokan, Ont.; and Barb and husband, Brian Murray, of Fort Frances, Ont.; three sons, Doug Brigham and wife, Jane, of Emo, Ont.; Ed Brigham and wife, Kathie, of Atikokan, Ont.; and Jerry Brigham of Emo, Ont.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two sisters, Gladys Smith of Emo, Ont., and Shirley Nedland of Dawson Creek, B.C.; one brother, Harley Gillies of Courtney, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Pastor Diane Clifford will officiate, with interment in Chapple Cemetery in Barwick, Ont. Friends may visit prior to funeral service on Thursday morning. Pallbearers will be Darryl Brigham, Daymon Brigham, Gerald Hartlin, Roy Sigurdson, Keith Smith, and Tony Bliss.
