HAMPTON, Veronica At the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, quietly and with dignity at the age of 88. Daughter of the late Ralph Garvin and Jesse Henderson. Beloved wife of the late Major Richard Hampton. Cherished mother of Ralph (Diane) Hampton. Grandmother of Amanda, Alison, Elizabeth and Jillian Hampton, all residing in England. Sadly missed by her step-grandchildren, Penny-Lee (Art) Visser, Mervyn, Brittney and Artie; Kimberly (Jim) Kirkby, Michael; Clifford (Cheri) Halfpenny, Thomas, Frankie-Lee, Samantha; Gregory (Jennifer) Halfpenny, Gage. Sister and friend of Alice (Lloyd) Norris, Phyllis (Bob) Hewitt, Vivian (Winston) Doyle, Joyce (late Ted) Kenyon, Hazel Garvin, and several nieces and nephews. Veronica was a life member of the Dominion Rifle Association of Canada; a staunch supporter of her husband Dick in his rifle shooting competitions around the world. Her proudest moment was Dick's winning the world championship at Bisley, England and bringing home to Canada the Queen's Prize gold medal. She and her husband raised and showed Gordon Setters - their dogs were Canadian champions and well known. She enjoyed playing bridge with her group and Veronica enjoyed entertaining friends and family, she was a wonderful cook and her roses were her pride and joy. A special thank you to the nurses for their kindness and compassion. At Veronica's request there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of her life will be held July 30, 2005, at Veronica's home from 2 to 4. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
