Ralph Delong SWEET

SWEET, Ralph DeLong QC Partner, Kennedy, Sweet & Shouldice 40 years Burke, Robertson 13 years Peacefully at home on Saturday, July 16, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer, with family by his side, age 87 years. Beloved husband of the late Eileen Acton and very dearest friend of Gilda Baird. Loving father of Carol and Lawrie Sweet (Jim Oelke). Cherished Grandpa of Brad Sweet, Robin and Sean Donovan. Predeceased by one brother Dr. Robert Sweet and one sister Louise Sanderson. Ralph will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family, colleagues and many friends. Ralph was a long time community activist whose accomplishments include: Counsel to the Heritage Canada Foundation; Past Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Quebec and Maritimes District Kiwanis International; last association being with Kiwanis Club of Sage of Ottawa; Past President for the Health League of Canada; Past Counsel for the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety; Past President of the Ottawa and District Sportsmen's Association; Past President of the Ottawa Alumni Victoria University; Past Delegate to the General Counsel and Past Chairman of the Church Extension (Ottawa Presbytery) of the United Church of Canada; Past Member of the Rivermead Golf Club, Cedarhill Golf Club and Granite Curling Club. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave at Richmond Road on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Avenue on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. Private interment Pinecrest Cemetery.
