Mrs. Elsie Gourley July 16, 1942 - August 02, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) GOURLEY, Elsie - 63, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully with her family by her side August 2, 2005, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Bay de Verde, she was a daughter of the late William and Augusta Barter. She had a distinguished career in the RCN and Reserve forces, before retiring as Chief Petty Officer in 1997. During the last eight years, she was a certified home care worker. Elsie was a volunteer for many organizations, and took great pride in everything she did. Her greatest passion in life was her family. She will be remembered for her great generosity, love and compassion. She is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, David, Dartmouth; loving children, Kim (Brad Manette), Bill (Sheena Grant), Trevor; granddaughter, Mackenzie; sisters, Carrie (Lewis) Potter and Catherine (George) Eddy, all of Newfoundland; Ruby (George MacDonald) Barter, Dartmouth; Gloria (David Andrews) Barter, Oakfield; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Annie Lockyer. A special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses of 7A, Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII, and the Nova Scotia Cancer Clinic for all their loving care and support. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today. Memorial service 2 p.m. Friday in Anglican Church of St. Andrew, Circassion Drive. Private family interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, Rev. Marilyn Newport officiating.
