Vera Melba Clarke (née Fradsham) December 19, 1922 - August 03, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) CLARKE (Fradsham), Vera Melba - 82, Chester Grant, formerly of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully August 3, 2005, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Pacquet, NL, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Minnie (Sacrey) Fradsham. For a number of years, she was employed as a LPN at the Nova Scotia Hospital and the MacKay House, Dartmouth, working with mentally challenged children. She also owned and operated the "Happy Face Day Care" centre in Dartmouth for numerous years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Vera enjoyed her home, knitting, gardens, all birds, squirrels, her pet chipmunk (Chippie) and family pets Clancy and Maggie. She especially enjoyed her great-grandson, Connor. Vera is survived by her children, Melvin Clarke (Peggy), Chester Grant; Sharon MacDonald (Don), Sheet Harbour, and Gary Clarke (Kim), Porters Lake; grandchildren, Troy Muise (Darcie), Terri Neima (Peter), Jimmy, Ricky and Shawn Clarke, Kara White (Adam), Leigh McCormick (Rosemary), Ronnie Clarke (Debbie); nine great-grandchildren; brothers, McKinley, Boyce and Pratt Fradsham, Newfoundland; Clifford Fradsham, Toronto; sisters, Olga Budden, Sybil O'Driscoll, Robena Fradsham, Newfoundland; Judy Wells, Ontario; several nieces and nephews. An infant son; brother, Az, and sister, Lillian Fradsham, predeceased her. Special thanks to Melvin, Peggy and all family members for taking such great care of Mom in her later years, helping her to stay in the place she loved the most - her home, to the Chester Basin Fire Department for their quick and helpful responses, the QEII IMCU and Valley Regional Hospital ICU nurses and doctors for all their help. There will be no visitation by request. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel. Cremation and private family burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Vera's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Chester Basin Fire Department or Valley Regional Hospital would be appreciated.
