Donald "Jimmy" James Nickerson January 24, 1945 - September 11, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home * NICKERSON……Donald James Jr., age 60, of Windsor, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2005, at the V.G.Site, Q.E. II, Halifax, after a short and very tough battle with cancer. Donald was known in Halifax as “Sarge”, but was known by most people as “Jim” or “Chicken Jim”. He was born on January 24, 1945, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and was the son of Verna (Joudrey) Nickerson, Melville Lodge, Halifax and the late Donald James Nickerson Sr. Jim worked as assistant pro at the Ashburn Golf Course under Kelly Bernet, Halifax, in the 1960’s. Jim was manager of K.F.C., Windsor for many years. He was a member and a former bartender, at the Royal Canadian Legion #009. At the time of his passing, he was employed as a taxi driver, for Donnie’s Taxi and Lee’s Taxi, Windsor. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, the former Barbara Ann Bezanson and their daughter, Melissa, Dartmouth; also daughters, Nancy Gallop, Halifax; Denice Gallop, Dartmouth; brother, Wayne, who was there when we needed him; step-daughters, Brenda Lee Lowe, Aylesford; Irene Lowe, Windsor; nine grandchildren and a great grandson. Jim was a very friendly, caring and considerate husband, father, son and brother. He will be greatly missed by all, especially his grandson, Shane. He was well known for his sense of humor and was well liked by all ages, when he drove the taxi. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. No visitations by request. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 15, in the Windsor United Church, with Rev. Bill Gibson officiating, assisted by Cheryl MacDonald. Interment will be held at a later date. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
