PARR, M. JUNE With great sadness, the death of M. June (Weed) Parr,75, beloved wife of the late James Kermode Parr, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on August 18th following a ten year battle with Myelodysplasia. Born April 19,1930 in Fredericton, she was the only daughter of the late Olive (Stickles) and Paul Fanjoy Weed. She was predeceased by husband, Jim (1999) and one son, Ronald (1972); three brothers, Donald, Ernie and Darrell Weed; and two step-sisters, Glenna (Wilson) Swan, and Jean Wilson. June attended Nashwaaksis School, Moncton High School and Fredericton Business College (where she met Jim). They enjoyed 51 happy years of marriage. They made homes briefly over the years in Bathurst, Toronto, Saint John and Rothesay before always coming back to Fredericton. At the same time they had many happy memories at their summer home on Chaleur Bay at Blue Cove/Grande Anse where they made many friends, especially the Baldwins. Over the years, she was employed with the Federal Government, the Bathurst Post Office and the Daily Gleaner. June spent 43 years as sole caregiver for ailing family members: her Grandmother Margaret Weed, both her in-laws, Douglas and Molly Parr along with her own mother, Olive Weed-Wilson and husband, Jim for his final 22 years. June felt this was a privilege since Jim was her gift from God. June was known for her ready smile, helping hand, and friendly nature. June and her husband, Jim, were the cofounders of the Capital District Heart Support Group, which celebrated their 20th Anniversary in February 2003. June was also a founding member of the Grace Memorial United Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 and the Royal Canadian Naval Association NB Branch. She is survived by her children: Douglas James Parr (Trinda), Fredericton; Susan Elizabeth Parr (Norm Webb), Durham Bridge; and Pamela June Parr of Saint John; four Grandchildren: Matthew Parr (Dr. Jennifer), Ilderton, Ontario; Vicki Parr, Fredericton; Stacie Thorne, Fredericton and Beckie Thorne, Oromocto; five Great-grandchildren: Vicki's twins, Brandy and Destiny Parr and Stacie's children, Jacob, Jaron and Jordan Phillips. She is also survived by one brother, Paul R. Weed (Jean)of Ontario; Stepbrothers, Jack F. Wilson, McNamee and Donald Wilson (Bertha), Fredericton and Step-sister, Joyce Briggs (Frank) of Ontario; two Special Aunts: Florrie Stickles of Nashwaaksis and Doris (Fanjoy) Appleby of McDonalds Corner; Nieces and Nephews, Beverly Hodgson (Lloyd) of Fredericton; Gail Knaggs (Bill), Joanne Smith (Bob), and Peter Weed (Delia), all of Ontario; Sharon Thorne (Gordie), and Brenda Parsons (David), of Quispamsis and Patty Weed of Fredericton; Lydia Bailey (Bob) of Ontario; Sandy Patterson (Gary) of Nova Scotia; Donna Pettipas (Bill) of Saint John and Paul A. Weed (Barb), of B.C. June will also be missed by Cousin and best friend, Darlene Price (Alvin), Fredericton and their sons Bill, Tom and Albert; Cousin and life long friend, Alexa Cowie of Fredericton; Cousin, Joan Fanjoy of B.C.; Bev and Lloyd's children, Willy, Marcus and Gail; "Cousins", Drs. Sheila and Eric Foster of Shrewsbury, England; Dear friend, Eleanor Bragdon (Gerry Simms); VON's, Flo Bowser and Homemaker, Doris Gaulton all of Fredericton. She will also be fondly remembered by other family and friends. June is also survived by what she described as her "other family" at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital: the dedicated staff in Emergency, CIU, Oncology , 4W-OP, 3E and the Palliative Care Unit as well as the Blood Transfusion Lab that cared for her weekly for the past 10 years with such compassion. Also, a big thank you to the Blood Services Unit in Saint John for the 648 transfusions received by June over the last ten years and to the Extra-Mural Staff for their loving care. A heartfelt thank you from June and her family to the large number of blood donors for extending her life and also to the Hemochromatosis Association of Canada (Vancouver) for their help over the years. Met on the other side and holding her husband's hand once again, she is now resting at McAdams Funeral Home, York St. with visiting hours on Friday, August 19,7-9 P.M. and Saturday, August 20, 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. The Funeral will be held at Grace Memorial United Baptist Church on Connaught St. on Sunday, August 21 at 3 P.M. with her Pastor Doug Hapeman officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul Thompson. Interment to follow at Douglas Rural Cemetary on Wilkins Ave, Fredericton.
