Mr. W. Wilson Weldon 1914 - 2005 MIRAMICHI, NB - Mr. William Wilson Weldon, husband of Dorothy Weldon, of King St., Miramichi and formerly of Loggieville, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Monday, August 22, 2005, at the age of 91. Born in Chatham, he was the son of the late William and Nina (Morris) Weldon. He operated the former M&W Grocery Store on Water Street in Chatham. He was an adherent of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Miramichi; a former member of the Board of Managers. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving with the 28th Field Battery, 5th R.C.A., in both Canada and Continental Europe. He was an honorary life member of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, Miramichi; served on the Board of Commissioners of N.B.E.P.C. for 10 years; a 30 year member of the Board of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home; recognized for his dedication to volunteer work for the N.B. Disabled; honored by the Rotary Club with the Paul Harris Fellow Award for his volunteer work over the years. Wilson was active in politics and held various offices with the Progressive Conservative Party. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Edge; two nieces, Joan Bremner and Susan Brennan; two nephews, Peter Nevin and Eric Weldon. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Margaret Gray and Edith Nevin; two brothers, Morris and Dr. Norman Weldon. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Visiting will be held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Adams Funeral Home Chapel, on Thursday, August 25, 2005, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Fred Douwsma. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Please note, members of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, at 7:30 pm, for a Veterans Service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Extra Mural Nursing Program or the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home would be appreciated by the family.
