Frances Dennis Frances Rowena Dennis, age 90, of Moncton and formerly of Port Hawkesbury and Middle Stewiacke, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at The Briarlea, Moncton. Born in Forest Glen, Colchester Co., she was a daughter of the late George and Carletta (Whidden) Sutherland. She was a homemaker and with her late husband, Cecil, owned and operated the Oxbow Farm in Middle Stewiacke for approximately 20 years. They spent the summers at the cottage in Malagash for over 40 years and Frances thoroughly enjoyed entertaining her family and many friends. She was a member of the Middle Stewiacke United Church and UCW. While living in Port Hawkesbury, she attended Holy Trinity Anglican Church, as well as the Malagash United Church during summers. She was a life member of the Atlantic Association of Clan Sutherland, having served as treasurer for many years. She and Cecil traveled extensively in Canada and the United States visiting family and friends. They also toured several European Countries as well as many trips to Scotland and Cuba where they made lasting friendships. Surviving are daughter, Carol (Dennis) Haverstock, Port Hawkesbury; son, Dr. William "Bill" (Francie), Moncton; sister, Louise McMullin, Brookfield; sister-in-law, Marg Sutherland, Truro; granddaughters, Stephanie (John) Davidson, Keswick, ON, Tracey (Greg) Hotta, Thornhill, ON, Gina Haverstock, Germany; grandsons, Greg (Robin) Dennis, Scarborough, ON, Terry (Karen) Dennis, Riverview, NB, Grant Haverstock, Penticton, BC; six great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; four nieces and three nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil; grandsons, Dawson and Garth Haverstock; sister, Margaret Turner; brothers, Evan and Charlie; brothers-in-law, Terry Turner and Ian McMullin; one niece and one nephew. Visitation will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Sunday at the Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro, from where the Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11am with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Private interment will be held at the Middle Stewiacke Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Charity of Choice. The family would sincerely like to thank the Management and Staff of The Briarlea for the wonderful care given to Frances during her stay at their beautiful facility.
