BURGESS, Bernard (Bernie) Whittaker. (Former CEO of Paprican.) Peacefully, surrounded by family, Bernie passed away at Sherwood Park Manor in Brockville on Friday, July 29, 2005. He will be lovingly remembered by Evelyn (nee Stethem), his wife of fifty-nine years. His four children, Kathy (Gerry), Brian, Scott, Mary (John). Most loved Gramps of David, Geoffrey, Sean, Katie, Jamie, Carly, Jordan, Linsey and predeceased by grandson Andrew. Bernie thoroughly enjoyed serving on the Board of Trustees at Queen's University and various hospital boards and foundations. He faced the challenges of his illness with courage, acceptance and optimism. The family would like to express their appreciation for the love and support from so many friends over the past few years. Special thanks to the wonderful caregivers from the Red Cross and the staff at Sherwood Park Manor. Their kindness and support will always be remembered by the family. Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. East Brockville on Monday, August 1, 2005 from 2 to 5 p.m. A celebration of Bernie's life will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, August 2 at 3 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.
