MITCHELL, Ernest John Eldon Passed away peacefully in Kemptville District Hospital on Thursday, July 28, 2005 in his 83rd year. Eldon was born on a farm in Pilot Mound, Manitoba. Growing up, he had a great interest in 4H clubs. After winning 1st place in poultry judging at the Toronto Winter Fair in 1940, he became poultry foreman at the University of Manitoba until 1955. In 1955 he moved his family to Ottawa to become manager of the Central Poultry Station for the Department of Agriculture, where he stayed until his retirement in 1984. Throughout his retirement he worked with his hands - gardening, woodworking and always helping friends, family and neighbours. His loss is mourned by his wife of sixty-one years, Edith; his children Judith Picotte (Armand) of Kingston, Robert of Winnipeg, Brian (Rose Vienneau) of Greely and Lorna (Bob Deskin) of Kemptville; his five grandchildren Doug and Heather Tate, Crystal, Lea and Kelly Mitchell and his brother and sisters Mervin Mitchell (Vera) of Ottawa, Gwen Lee of B.C. and Lois Folkens (Doug) of B.C. Memorial Service will be held at Grant Brown Funeral Home, Rolston Chapel, Kemptville on Friday, August 5, 2005 at 1 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity in his name. Published in the Ottawa Citizen from 8/3/2005 - 8/4/2005
