MURPHY, Jean Frances nee Graff, RN B Sc. N Peacefully on Wednesday, August 10th, 2005 in her 91st year at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, youngest child of the late Inez Cannon and Frank Graff. Wife of the late Maurice J. Murphy. She will be deeply missed by her step-daughters Barbara Murphy and Eleanor Murphy to whom she was a devoted mother for the last 40 years, her nephew Brian Graff and wife Dee, grand-niece Laura Richard (Tony) and their children Joel and Evie, grand-nephew Gordon Graff (Tara) and their children Emma, Julia and Jack. Survived by her sister-in-law Alexina Graff, cousin Nona Hodge and nieces Valerie Butterfield and Linda Graff Kapuscinki. She is predeceased by her close sister Margaret Graff and brother Ray. At age 20 Jean left the family home in Cochrane, Ontario to take her nursing training at the Ottawa General Hospital, later graduated with a B. Sc. N from the University of Ottawa. She was witty and current in her thinking and a valued friend and neighbour, someone to be reckoned with. She will be remembered particularly for her prodigious memory, fierce loyalty, determination, and soft heart. We sincerely thank the staff of the Peter D. Clarke Centre, many whom Jean considered friends, for their kindness and professionalism over the four years of her residency. Respect may be paid at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 235 Kent St., on Tuesday, August 16th from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 194 Fourth Avenue on Wednesday, August 17th at 10 a.m. Interment, Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte, Ontario.
