MacKINNON, Marie, RN On August 16, 2005, Leona Marie MacKinnon (nee Dionne), beloved wife of John (Jack) MacKinnon, age 74, after a long, courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Much loved mother of her sons Donald and Robert MacKinnon and daughters Margaret Ryan, Ann Avalos (Victor), Patricia MacKinnon (Patsy James Gonsorcik) and Catherine MacKinnon (Daniel Clarke). Cherished Nana of Christopher, Dylan, Dayna, Lee, Brenna, Kelly and Laura. Mourned also by siblings Agnes Amyotte (late Edward), Francis Mahood (late Keith), Aileen Goselin (Joseph) and Claire Dionne (Jean). Predeceased by sisters Margaret Mahoney, Bernice Carey and Myrtle Dyer. Marie was a devoted member of her parish, active in many ministries, an outspoken proponent of what she believed in, a nurse with excellent diagnostic ability and the heart of her family. With her beautiful voice, she is probably already singing in an angel choir. Many thanks to her oncology nurses, especially Kelly-Anne, Karen and Jacinthe, to Dr. Margaret Farncombe and her palliative care team and to the Elisabeth Bruyere staff. Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 1255 Walkley Road (east of Bank) Thursday, August 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday to Resurrection of Our Lord Church, 1940 Saunderson Drive, for Mass of Christian Funeral at 9:30 a.m. Interment Hope Cemetery. If wished, offerings may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (for ovarian cancer research) or for memorial Mass cards. Published in the Ottawa Citizen from 8/18/2005 - 8/19/2005
