McVEY, William "Bill" Younger January 8, 1928 - August 20, 2005 WWII Navy & Korean War Veteran Past President & Honorary Member of Local 96 Elevator & Escalator Brotherhood In hospital Perth on Saturday afternoon Bill's spirit rose to soar with the eagles he so admired. Devoted best bud of loving wife Diana (nee Mayer). Loving father of Shelda (Gary) of PEI; Dianne, Kanata, ON; Maureen (Mark), Toronto, ON and Bruce (Sheila), Woodlawn, ON and step-father of Bob Steer, Nanaimo, BC. Granddad of Jamie, Laura, Samantha and Allison of PEI; Jessica, Sarah, and Caitlin, Kanata, ON; Keith, Toronto, ON and Ariel and Marina, Tofino, BC and also one great-granddaughter Shaelyn of PEI. Bill is also survived by his sister Isobel and her two daughters Heather Browne and Gail Wall, Jasper, ON and his brother Andrew (Alma), Halifax, NS and their daughter Drewan, New York City. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law Pat Hill and her husband Jim, his brother-in-law Roy Mayer and his wife Lise. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends, especially Stewart Amos, Dever, CO,; Chris Thompson, Jasper, ON; Sandy Callahan, Toronto, ON; Kim Mann (Rick), Ottawa, ON; Ted Mayer, North Gower, ON and Elizabeth Campagna, Orleans, ON and all their children. Bill being a strong and stubborn Scot that he was (born in Glasgow, Scotland to Elizabeth Shorthouse and Andrew McVey) survived over the last 10 years, major back surgery, prostate cancer, and abdominal aneurysm and open heart surgery but was unable to overcome the lung cancer. Private family services were held. "Till we meet again." We wish to thank all of Bill's doctors and caregivers at the Perth Hospital and both campuses of the Ottawa Hospital and especially his kind and devoted home care nurse Carol Suthers.
