Ivan Burton RIPLEY

Mr. Ivan Burton Ripley March 03, 1923 - August 28, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Campbell's Funeral Home Ivan Burton Ripley age 82, of Amherst passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005 at Centennial Villa, Amherst, N.S. Born in Upper Nappan, N.S., he was a son of the late Douglas and Janie (Smith) Ripley. Ivan met his soul mate and life-long companion, Carrie, while working as an aircraft welder at Canada Car in Amherst during World War II. In 1952 he took a position at Sifto Salt in Nappan from which he retired after 34 years of service. Ivan was a very mild natured gentleman who worked hard to bring up his family. He was a devoted husband who cared for his wife during her years of failing health. He is survived by two daughters Mary Jane (Graham) Fraser of Amherst and Susan (Donald) Trask of Hastings, three sons Gary (Mary) of Charlottetown, P.E.I., David (Lynn) of Rothesay, N.B. and Ian (Janet) of Truemanville, N.S., two brothers Garnet (Cathy) of Estavan, Sask. and Owen (Elizabeth) of Calgary, Alberta, one sister Bona (Rupert) Ripley of Nappan, ten grandchildren two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ivan is predeceased by his wife the former Carrie Wheeler, daughter Kathy Gallant, granddaughter Erin Gallant, one sister Ethel Sanderson, one brother Frederick and sister Mary Jane both in infancy. His remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Trinity St. Stephen's United Church, Amherst with Rev. Patti Blundell and Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Interment will take place in the Fenwick Cemetey. Donations in Ivan's memory may be made to the L.A.
