Pearl Madeline BUCHANAN

MCBRINE, PEARL MADELINE Pearl Madeline McBrine of Grand-Bay-Westfield, NB formerly of Fredericton, NB passed away at home, September 1, 2005. Born in East Centreville, NB the eldest child of the late Frank and Evelyn (Tedford) Buchanan she moved permanently to Fredericton after World War II ended in 1945, where she taught for several years in the Fredericton Business College and the George Street High School Night School. After the death of her husband in 1963, she worked in several businesses as a bookkeeper/accountant. An active volunteer in many organizations her door was always open to those who wished to help in many ways and was qualified to teach and train in parliamentary law and procedures. A life member and recipient of the Meritorious Service Award in the Ladies Auxiliary, The Royal Canadian Legion Fredericton Branch #4 where she served as treasurer for 27 years; Life member, founder and charter president of the Fredericton Club of International Training in Communication, formerly the International Toastmistresses Clubs, where she received many awards and earned the designation of Accomplished Communicator. Also a member of the Pythian Sisters Celestial Chapter 19, Fredericton; the Fredericton South Kinsman's Seniors; as well as several other clubs during the years. Predeceased by her parents, her husband L. W. John McBrine, her only brother Vincent Tedford Buchanan and two of his children, Shelley and John; her only sister Gwenlyn Emery;and a grandson-in-law John Frederick MacKay of Saint John, NB. Survived by her only child David John McBrine and his wife Deborah of Woodman's Point, NB (Westfield); granddaughter Christa L. MacKay of Ketepec, Saint John, NB and her two children Amber and Devin MacKay; one grandson Jonathan D. McBrine of Brooks, AB; two nieces, Judith Emery Ramiegar, husband Satish and two children Leela and Tara of Rosemere, QC; Wendy Buchanan Thomas and her husband Lee and two children Simon and Isaac; seven nephews and their families; Michael J. Emery, East Saint John, NB; and the six Buchanan boys, Blake of Toronto, Bruce and Vincent of Woodstock, Leigh of Charleston and Jimmy and Kerry of East Centreville. One sister-in-law Florence Goodine Buchanan of East Centreville, NB. There will be no funeral. She donated her body to the Dalhousie Medical School in Halifax, NS where eventually an urn of the ashes will be placed in the Dalhousie Memorial Gardens, Hillcrest Cemetery in Lower Sackville where memorial services are held every summer. Donations are requested to be made to the IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax or to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, or to the charity of the donors choice.
