ARSENAULT, LEONARD JOSEPH - On Friday, September 2, 2005, Leonard Joseph Arsenault, loving husband of the Late Violet (Gaudet) for 55 years, passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Veteran's Hospital. Born in Bouctouche NB, he was the son of the late Sylvain and Beatrice Collette. Leonard served his country from 1939-1944 in England and Italy in the 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Engineers 386 and was wounded in the Invasion of Sicily in 1943. Leonard also worked for many years as an ambulance driver for Ridgewood Veteran's Hospital, the Department of Veteran's Affairs, and for Workman's Compensation Board. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved music and entertaining people with his step dancing. Leonard is survived by his children, Earl Arsenault (Carol), Jeanette Hamm (Bud) and Rita Meehan. Leonard will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Danielle Arsenault, Dana Hamm, Derek Arsenault, Billy Meehan; by step-grandchildren Michael Hamm, Debra Green, and Barbara Morrow; and by great-grandson Aaron Arsenault. Leonard also leaves behind siblings Zoel Collette (Catherine), Agnas Winchester, Florence (Alvin) Cormier, Yvonne Bourque, Maria Daigle, and Aurelia Nowlan. Leonard is predeceased by his son Lené Arsenault Jr., and by siblings Leo Collette, George Arsenault, Dora LeBlanc, Elizabeth Legere and Sarah Cormier. Resting at Castle Funeral Home Fallsview Chapel, 309 Lancaster Avenue, (634-1701) with visitation Sunday from 2-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church, 541 Milford Road, Saint John on Monday, September 5, 2005 at 11 o'clock with reception following at the Dennis Morris Community Centre, Greenhead Road. Private interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery Field of Honour. Donations in memory of Leonard may be made to Ridgewood Veteran's Hospital or the Alzheimer's Society of Canada. [Telegraph-Journal]
