Gerald "Gerry" Edmond Tait 1923 - 2005 COURTENAY, BC - Gerry passed away in Courtenay, BC, on September 1, 2005 at the age of 82. He will be forever remembered by his loving wife, Jean, of 58 years; his six daughters, Maivis Olsen, Marsha Webb (David), Iris Churchill (Lyall), Lori Tait (John), Deana Brown (George), Tanis Moyls (Glenn); and one son, Byron (Kerri); 15 grandchildren, Earl, Ken, Bob, Bill, Randy, Kelly-Rae, Jordon, Broc, Rhonda, Reisha, Janessa, Cameron, Jeana, Brandon, Miranda; seven great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Victoria, Tatiana, Hunter, Tienna, Brayden, Haden; three brothers, Ron (Joan), Harrison (Ann) and Bob (Alta) and their families reside in NB. Gerry was predeceased by his mother, Marion; father, Harrison; and by his sister, Isabel. As a young man Gerry was accomplished in all sports; he excelled in baseball and fastball. After many moves across Canada, Gerry and his family settled in the Comox Valley in 1966. He formed G.E. Tait Construction Co. He went on to build many custom homes. Gerry received the "New Home Builders Award" and was recognized by the city for outstanding contribution to his community. Gerry was a strong advocate of providing the opportunity for young people to participate in all sports. He was instrumental in the Bill Moore Memorial Park Project. (Construction of the clubhouse, the original batting cage and the field lighting). In his later years Gerry became a duplicate bridge "Life Master" and he was skilled at poker and billiards. He was part of the ownership group of the Comox Valley Dodge Glacier Kings Junior B hockey team. Gerry will be sadly missed by the many people whose lives he touched over the course of 40 years in the Comox Valley. Gerry placed great importance on family values and he leaves this as a legacy to his children. It was customary for Gerry to never say good-bye and so we salute him with his own words So long Gerry, See ya later.
