Rachel Marie Jeanine Raffard February 07, 1987 - September 08, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Desjardins Funeral Chapel It is with deepest, heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of Rachel Raffard and her unborn child, on Thursday, September 8, 2005. Following a tragic accident, Rachel passed away with her family by her bedside at Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 18 years. Rachel was born and raised on the family farm in Otterburne, MB and received her education in St Pierre, MB. She was currently working at Granny's Poultry. Rachel's family and friends were so very important to her throughout her life, her free time being devoted to those she cared so much about. Left to cherish Rachel’s memory are her: daughter Chelsey, parents Denis & Lorena (Thornton) Raffard, brothers and sisters: Paul, Stéphanie, Justin and Colleen; boyfriend, Johnny Giesbrecht; grandmother Yvonne (Grandmont) Raffard; aunts and uncles Dolores (Gilbert) Carrière, Lorraine (Bob) Cauthers, Evelyne (Pierre) Beaudoin, Marc (Eleonora) Raffard, Jeanine (Adrian) Bernard, Michel (Mary Lou) Raffard; many cousins, relatives and loving friends. She was predeceased by her: grandparents Marcel Raffard, Vivian (Alexander) Thornton; uncle Brian Thornton; cousins Marie Beaudoin and Emily Dumont. A special thanks to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for the special care given to Rachel as well as to Fathers Guy Lavallée and Marcel Carrière for their support and compassion. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, September 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Viateur Roman Catholic Church in Otterburne, MB followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 2 p.m. officiated by Fr. Guy Lavallée. Pall bearers will be Paul, Justin and Alec Raffard, Josué and Damien Beaudoin and Christopher Cauthers. Internment of the ashes will follow at a later date during a private ceremony at the Otterburne Catholic cemetery. Rachel’s request for organ donation has been fulfilled. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rachel’s memory for her daughter Chelsey to: “Trust Fund for Chelsey Marie Raffard”, Caisse Provencher, St Pierre, MB, R0A 1V0.
