Florence M. (O’Regan) Cyr À sa résidence, le jeudi 22 septembre 2005, à l’âge de 93 ans, est décédée Florence O`Regan, épouse de feu Herbert L. Cyr, domiciliée à Hamlin, Maine. Née à Grand-Sault en 1912, elle était fille de feu Joseph O’Regan et de feu Mattie Paradis. Elle laisse dans le deuil trois fils, Peter (Judy) d’Amherst, New Hampshire, Regan de Hamlin et Arnold (Lynn) de Clermont, Floride, quatre filles, Mary Ruth (Richard Nichols) de Fort Fairfield, Maine, Nora (James Hilton) d’Athens, Maine, Joan (Vance Perry) de Bon Air, Virginie et Pamela Soucy de Mountaintop, Pennsylvanie, 18 petits-enfants, six arrière-petits-enfants, belle-soeur, Elvena O’Regan de Grand-Sault, ainsi que nombreux neveux et nièces. Elle a été précédée par tous ses frères et soeurs, Michael, Lawrence, Lily, Louise, Alice, Guy, Grace, Mary, George et Gerald. La dépouille mortelle est exposée au salon Guy O’Regan, 515, boul. Everard Daigle à Grand-Sault. Ses funérailles auront lieu le lundi 26 septembre à 14h en l’église de l’Assomption de Grand-Sault, et l’inhumation au cimetière Saint-Joseph de Hamlin, Maine. Les heures des visites seront le dimanche de 19h à 21h, et le lundi de 12h30 jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles. (O'Regan) Cyr passed away quietly from this life Sept. 22, 2005, at home with her loving family and care-givers at her side. She was born Sept. 21, 1912, at Grand Falls, N.B., Canada, a daughter of the late Joseph O'Regan and the late Mattie (Paradis) O'Regan. She attended Grand Falls schools and graduated Valedictorian of her class from Dalhousie Business College in 1931. After college she owned and operated a ladies clothing store in Grand Falls until she married, Herbert L. Cyr, in 1940 and moved to Hamlin. Mrs. Cyr was past president and state director of the Van Buren Business and Professional Women's Club, charter member of the Van Buren Extension Group, past member of the Hospital Guild, the Evang-eline Circle, the Daughters of Isabella and was for many years, active in church and civic groups, as well as an avid and active supporter of the Democratic Party. She and her husband were dedicated to the promotion of domestic health and education as well as assisting Christian missions in Africa, Japan and other third world countries. Mrs. Cyr organized the first Parent-Teachers' Club at St. Joseph's School in Hamlin, and served as president for nine years. She was, for more than 15 years, renowned for hosting a yearly "school party", in which she provided activities, gifts and refreshments for up to 90 students and their teachers. She made "home movies" of each occasion for the students to view at the next annual event. She was artistic and creative well into her late 80's, making many treasures and keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. She is also remembered for wearing the most remarkable and sometimes outrageous designer hats. Her husband, Herbert, preceded her in death in September 1984. Three sons survive her, Peter and his wife, Judy, of Amherst, N.H., Regan of Hamlin, and Arnold and his wife, Lynn, of Clermont, Fla. She is also survived by four daughters, Mary Ruth and her husband, Richard Nichols, of Fort Fairfield, Nora and her husband, James Hilton, of Athens, Joan and her husband, Vance Perry, of Bon Air, Va., and Pamela Soucy of Mountaintop, Pa.; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elvena O'Regan of Grand Falls, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by all her brothers and sisters, Michael, Lawrence, Lily, Louise, Alice, Guy, Grace, Mary, George and Gerald. Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls, N.B. Canada, with visiting hours Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 12:30-2 p.m. (all times stated are Canadian). A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, from the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls. Interment will be in the St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery, Hamlin. www.oregans.ca
