Dorothy Frances Bellefontaine (née Doubleday) June 22, 1925 - September 18, 2005 It is with deep sadness that the nine children of Dorothy Frances (Doubleday) Bellefontaine announce that she died at 3:25 a.m. September 18, 2005, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, peacefully in her sleep. Dorothy was born on June 22, 1925, to the late Lillian (Reid) and Herbert G. Doubleday. Mum is survived by her nine loving children, Catherine L. (Helge), Prince Rubert, B.C.; Holly L. (David) Halifax; Elaine S. (Gary), Fredericton, N.B.; James H. (Beth), Florida; Rebecca W. (Johnie), Vancouver Island; Carl G.G., Victoria, B.C.; Suzanne E. (Fred), Prince Rubert, B.C.; Michael D. (Daryl), Halifax, and Terry J., Halifax. She was a loving grandmother to Jennifer, Michelle, Anne, Nicole, Rebecca, Andrew, Brianna, Mary, Vincent, Sarah, Jody, and great-grandmother to James, Natalie, Jessica, Emma, Olivia and Patrick. Mum is survived by two sisters and one brother. She was predeceased by her husband, James; granddaughter, Tanja, and three brothers. Dorothy enjoyed traveling across Canada and to Florida, visiting her sons and daughters. She volunteered at Brunswick Street United Church clothing bank and enjoyed being with her friends, especially Lolly Smith, who was just like a sister to her. She was employed at Foundation Maritime with Captain Walters during the Second World War and the province of Nova Scotia in the 60's until cancer stopped her for a few years. She retired from the City of Halifax to care for her ailing husband. Mum, it breaks our hearts to see you go but it would break our hearts more had you suffered any longer. Thanks to her family doctor, Susan Atkinson and her staff, the wonderful nurses and doctors on 8.1 and the Palliative Care Unit who were of great assistance to us. Special thanks to Brian Abrahams, Security, New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, and I. Struthers, Medical Examiner, Province of Nova Scotia. Cremation has taken place. It's a hope and love which cannot die. And only shared by the survivors - R. DeCoste
