George Karagity October 09, 1927 - September 23, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully, on Friday, September 23, 2005, George passed away at Donwood Manor at the age of 78 years. George is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 56 years, Judy. George will be remembered by his brother-in-law Leslie Toth and his wife Marika, nephew Georgie, niece Judy and great-niece Marika and his godson Frank and his wife Linda, all of Winnipeg. Family in Hungary surviving George are: brother-in-law Joseph and wife Irenke and niece Ildiko; brother-in-law Istvan and nephew Istvan; sister-in-law Rose; nieces Magi, Melinda and nephew Bandi. George was born in Budapest, Hungary on October 9, 1927. George met his loving wife, Judy in Budapest. They were married in 1949 and began their long and happy life together. In 1957, during the Hungarian Revolution they immigrated to Canada where George worked at the Assiniboine Park Zoo for 15 years. He then opened George's Custom Taylors in Winnipeg and later moved the business to Selkirk, working at his trade, which he learned in Hungary. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Carl Duerkson, nurses and staff of Donwood Manor for the wonderful care given to George for the past 26 months. George loved staying at Donwood Manor. Your loving care will always be appreciated and remembered in daily prayers by Judy. Prayers will be said on Monday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, September 27, 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 250 Burrin Avenue. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue with reception to follow.
