Irene Reid September 18, 1923 - September 25, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home After a brief illness, on September 25, 2005 Irene passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 82. Irene was born September 18, 1923 in Warrington, England. Mom moved out to Winnipeg from Toronto 6 years ago in December and became an active volunteer at the Grace Hospital and the St. James Assiniboia Senior Centre for the last 5 years. Mom always said that she had more friends here in Winnipeg and I believe that to be true. Irene was predeceased by her husband Jim Reid (1993); her parents Lily Taylor (1954) and Israel Thomas Holcroft (1959) and her sister Ivy. She will be sadly missed by her son and daughter-in-law Bob (Helen) Harvey of Winnipeg; grandsons Nelson (Dusty) of Shawnigan Lake B.C. and Lee of Winnipeg MB; great grandson Cameron of Shawnigan Lake B.C. and also her extended family in Southern Ontario. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff on the 3rd floor of the Grace Hospital for their care and kindness. Thank you to Helen Bowler and the rest of the volunteer’s at the Grace Hospital for being Mom’s friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
