Silvestro Figar July 16, 1919 - September 23, 2005 FIGAR, Silvestro 86 years. Born July 16, 1919 in Italy. Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Hotel Dieu - Grace Hospital on September 23, 2005. Silvestro is survived by his wife of 60 years Irene (Cristancic). Beloved father of Milovan Figar and John and Maureen Figar. Cherished Grandfather of his pride and joy Sylvio and Philip. Loving brother of Ivo, Farrah D`Isonzo, and sister Mile` all of Italy. Dear brother in law of Draga (Josef) Blasco of Slovenia. Dear cousin of John (Maria) Perolja of Windsor. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy and Slovenia.Predeceased by his parents Silvestro and Christina Figar, beloved daughter in law Joanne (Gerardi) Figar (1991), sisters Anna (1975), Angela (1999) and brother Stanislaw (1981). Silvestro was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Italian Air Force in North Africa and was a retiree of Daimler Chrysler Canada with over 30 years of service, a proud member of C.A.W. Local 444 and the Slovenian Club of Windsor. The family expresses sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at Hotel Dieu - Grace Hospital for their exceptional comfort and care given to Silvestro during his last days with them. Our appreciation also goes to the CCAC and Comcare for giving all the care to Silvestro in his time of need. (253-5225) on Sunday 7-9 p.m. and Monday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers Monday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, September 27, 2005 Leaving the funeral home at 8:45 a.m. to St. Patrick Church 1630 Partington Avenue., for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Fr. Mark Poulin officiating. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As your expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre. A tree will be planted in memory of Silvestro Figar in the Janisse Bros - Marcotte Heritage Forest. A dedication service will be held September 2006. All are welcome.
