Kenneth (Ken) Robert Lahie Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, September 30, 2005, at Henderson Hospital, in his 81st year. He had been in poor health, but his death was unexpected. Loved husband of Claire (Shaw, Kay) for 44 years. Cherished father of Bob, Ruth, Lynn, Barb (Randy), Hugh (Cynthia), Doug (Shelley), and Sam (Tessanne). Loving Grandpa of Jeremy Lahie (Jane), Matt & Scott Tanaka, Sarah, Emily, Fraser & Rebecca Kay, and Ryan, Jessica, Connor & Rachel Lahie. Ken will be fondly remembered by his three brothers; Gordon (Norma), Reg (Jean) and Don (Helen) and their children and by his brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Sam and Dorothy Lahie (Phibbs), and by his first wife Lois (Laidman) (1959). Ken retired from The Hamilton Spectator in 1990, after 48 years of service as a pressman. He was a long time member of St. Andrew’s United Church and choir, and a member of the Dofasco Male Chorus for over 40 years. The family would like to thank the nurses on Ward 497 for their compassionate care. Family and friends are invited to visit at Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home, Robinson Chapel, 15 West Ave. N. Hamilton, 905 522-2496 on Sunday, October 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 479 Upper Paradise Ave., on Monday, October 3, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. At Ken’s request, a family burial will take place at a later date.
