John McLeod Ellis Boularderie CentreJohn McLeod Ellis, eighty-seven, of Boularderie Centre, N.S., passed away on Tuesday August 30, 2005, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital due to complications of surgery. Born in Sydney on March 13, 1918, he was the son of the late Russel and Sadie (McLeod) Ellis. John's entire business career was spent in the basic steel industry, starting in 1935 with DOSCO in Sydney as an order clerk and retiring in 1978 as Senior Vice President of Sidbec -Dosco in Montreal. He came home to Cape Breton to retire, creating a slice of heaven on the Bras d'Or Lakes. He also served two years in the Canadian Navy. Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Marjorie (Molesworth); devoted daughter, Marnie, son-in-law, Peter Crosby and two cherished grandsons, Xander and William, Norwalk, Ohio. John is also survived by his brother, J. R. "Pat" Ellis (Doreen), Halifax and sister, Patience (Mrs. M. T. Rourke), Toronto; and several nieces and nephews. At John's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at mellis@ neo.rr.com .
