Claire MORRISSEY

CLAIRE MORRISSEY, C.N.D. (Sister St. Zita of the Sacred Heart) Passed away peacefully at the Verdun General Hospital on September 6, 2005, after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Frances MacDonald and the late Wendelin Morrissey of East Royalty, Prince Edward Island. She leaves to mourn her loving sisters Florence Morrisey, C.N.D., Zita Stewart (Alison), Ursula MacDonald (John), Pauline McCabe, Lorraine Morrison (Kenneth), all of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Leona from Antigonish, Nova Scotia, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be sorely missed by the Sisters of the Congregation de Notre-Dame, especially by her companions at DeSeve Residence. Sister Claire began her teaching in the elementary schools in Prince Edward Island. From 1958 to 1984, she was teacher and Administrator with the Montreal Catholic School Commission. From 1973 to 1982, she was Vice-Principal at Marymount High School and then from 1982 to 1984 at William Hingston High School. In 1985, she was appointed Academic Advisor at Marianopolis College, a position she held until her retirement in 2000. During her teaching career, Sister Claire served on the Boards of Notre Dame Secretarial College, Villa Maria High School and the Association of Catholic Principals of Montreal. For the last four years, she served as Coordinator of "The Stable" Retreat Center in Pierrefonds. The wake will be held at Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Decarie Blvd., Montreal, H3W 3C4, on Friday, September 9, 2005 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 8 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will take place at the Ascension of Our Lord Parish, 375 Kitchener Ave., Westmount, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2005, thence to Cote-des-Neiges Cemetery for burial. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Marianopolis Millennium Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
