DAVIDSON, Fred. 1924 - 2005. Died peacefully, on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at the Westmount Nursing Home in Kitchener after a long and courageous struggle. Beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Reekie) for fifty-five years; dear father of Nancy and David Almond of London, Ont., Eric and Jay of St. Johns, Newfoundland, and Bill and Tracy of Kitchener; loving grandfather of Steve, Kelly, Mike, Jeff, Matt, Elizabeth, Ethan, MacKenzie, Renee, Lindsay and Shawn; dear brother of Phyllis Holmes of Woodstock, Ont., Marilyn and Clem Powell of Sussex Corners, New Brunswick, and Ron and Marilyn Davidson of Fredericton, New Brunswick. Fred, a graduate of UNB and the Harvard Business School, was born in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick, and spent his years in Montreal prior to retiring in Waterloo, Ont., where he was a member of Trinity United Church and the Mr. and Mrs. Club. Friends are invited to share their memories of Fred with his family at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, September 10, 2005, from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service to celebrate Fred's life and faith to follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jack Paleczny officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Special thanks to the staff at the Westmount Nursing Home for their love and care of Fred over the past two years. In Fred's memory, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society and may be arranged through the funeral home.
