EVANGELOS A. HADJIS 1938 - 2005 Passed away on September 10, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer. His loss is deeply mourned by his wife Paraskevi (Demakos), his children Calliope (Zachary Elias), Demetre, and Alexi; his brothers Leonidas (Mary) and Efthimios (Dina), sisters Vassiliki and Maria, sisters-in-law Harikleia and Eli, cousins, nieces and nephews; colleagues and friends. Since coming to Canada in 1955 from Homori, Nafpaktias, Greece, Evangelos secured for his family, both immediate and extended, a prosperous and secure future. He was both a mentor and a protector. A member of the Bar of Quebec, Evangelos distinguished himself as a lawyer. He was widely respected by his colleagues in the legal community, yielding great influence through his keen sense of justice, power of negotiation, and generosity of spirit. Ever mindful of his roots, Evangelos served his fellow Greeks of Montreal and their various organizations for over forty years with dedication, humility, and magnanimity. He was recognized as a leader and a pillar of strength by one and all. No less genuine was his pride in being a Canadian; this he exemplified by both word and deed in moments of national debate. May his memory be everlasting. The Hadjis family thanks sincerely Dr. Thirwell and his team, Christine Wickham, Nancy Hepnell, and Elpa Klappas, all of the Montreal General Hospital for their attention and care. Visitation at Complexe funeraire Urgel Bourgie, 1255 Beaumont Avenue, on September 12, 2005, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on September 13, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. George's Cathedral, 2455 Cote St. Catherine Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Published in the Montreal Gazette from 9/11/2005 - 9/12/2005
