Clifton Stewart Bryant Clifton Stewart Bryant passed away peacefully at Brockville General Hospital, with family by his side, on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at 79 years of age. He was born and raised in Kingston, and as a very young man he joined the RCAF. After the war, his career was always related to the railways in one form or another, with the bulk of his working life spent running Prime Canada, first in Montreal then in Prescott. He spent his entire lifetime within a few miles of the St. Lawrence River and enjoyed boating (and sometimes even boat-building) immensely. As a young man, he began sketching and painting and continued with this hobby through into his 70s, taking art classes at St. Lawrence College until a few years ago. Over the past ten or more years, he could often be found at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 97 (Prescott), and he got much pleasure from the camaraderie he found there. He was the husband of the late Joyce Saunders. He is sadly missed and fondly remembered by his children Kim and her husband Philip Jolly of Calgary, Gary and his partner Carol Richardson of Toronto, Susan Bryant and her husband Matthew Child of Essex, and Scot and his wife Michelle Côté of Ottawa. He was a loving grandfather to Laura and Benjamin Jolly, Isabel, Sophie and Lucas Child and Jacob and Zachary Bryant. Clif is survived by his brother George and his wife Stella of Peterborough, and was predeceased by his brother Ken. Visitation and funeral were held at the Chris Slater Funeral Home in Prescott on Sept. 7 and 8, 2005 respectively. He was interred at Blue Church Cemetery in Prescott - a beautiful site with a view of the St. Lawrence River and the sounds of the railway ever-present. For those wishing, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Brockville General Hospital.
