Gilbert, Dominique, of Hearst - Date of Death: September 11th, 2005 - The funeral service for Hearst Foyer des Pionniers Nursing Home resident Dominique Gilbert, 89, was held Sept. 16, 2005. He died Sept. 11 at Notre-Dame Hospital. Born March 28, 1916 in St-Georges, Beauce, Québec, he came to the area in 1929. A Selin millworker and later a town employee until 1982, he was a sociable person who enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading. Predeceased by his sisters Florence, Blanche, Adrienne and Lucienne, and brothers Benoît and Rosario Gilbert, he leaves companion Rose Grondin, daughters Joanne (Charles) of Penticton, B.C., Céline and Lynn (Augusto), all of Hearst, sons Claude (Ghislaine) of Thunder Bay and Denis of Anzac, Alberta, and grandson Patrick of Thunder Bay. Also surviving is his sister Jeannette Royer of Sherbrooke, Que. Rev. Gérald Chalifoux directed the service at Église St-Pie-X. Interment followed at Monsignor Pierre Grenier Cemetery. Commemorative donations may be made to the Foyer.
